The showpiece event is scheduled for Saturday, 5 June 2027, bringing the 72nd season of Europe’s premier club competition to a spectacular conclusion.
The Estadio Metropolitano will host the Champions League final for the second time, having previously staged the 2019 final, when Liverpool defeated Tottenham Hotspur 2–0. The stadium has been Atlético de Madrid’s home since 2017 and is located in the Rosas neighbourhood of the Spanish capital.
With a capacity of around 70,000, the modern venue has become one of Madrid’s leading sporting landmarks. Its design also incorporates sustainability features, including solar panels, LED lighting and a rainwater recycling system used to irrigate the pitch.
The 2026/27 Champions League campaign began in July 2026, with 36 teams competing in the league phase. Each club will play eight league-phase matches before the competition moves into the knockout stages, with the final two teams eventually earning their place in Madrid.
The final will also mark another major chapter in Madrid’s long association with European football. The city has hosted the Champions League or European Cup final on multiple occasions, with the Santiago Bernabéu having previously staged four European Cup finals.
